A white she-cat stalked silently through the forest. She stopped at a pine, rubbing her chin against it. Her ears swiveled back as a squirrel scurried up a nearby tree, fleeing. Humph. Everyone has a time. Her gaze softened at the rodent, sympathy for the day it sat in someone's belly. That is how life works, sadly. She continued on her way, traveling further and further. The forest was quiet, and quite peaceful. The sun was shining brightly overhead, not a cloud in the sky. A few birds called to each other, warning of her presence. She was not in the mood to hunt, however. Just a simple stroll through the territory, her and her thoughts. Since becoming Medicine Cat, Snowpool had taken a lot of time to pray to StarClan, mostly begging for forgiveness in her younger moons. For so long she hated the Ancestors, sneering at them, cursing their names, turning her back on hem entirely. How dare they take her family? How dare they leave her alone, with no one to raise her, to play with her. She had been the only kit at the time of her family's passing. All was forgiven now, though. She forgave them.
"Who knows, you may never have become a Medicine Cat Apprentice if your family was still here. It doesn't change the hurt you feel, I know. But StarClan always has a reason. It is our duty to accept it and continue on." Frostfire's words rang in her ears. Her mentor had been so calm when Snowpool confessed her views on StarClan. Yet, She put everything into perspective, and changed Snowpool's attitude completely. Frostfire was just good at that sort of stuff.
The white she-cat paused and looked up. The stars weren't out just yet, but she knew; the Ancestors always watched over her and her Clan. Oh Frostfire, I wish you could have stayed with me. Every day I am so scared of failing someone...that I will forget what to do, or what herbs to use. She sat down, sighing. What would she do if she failed someone? The thought was hard to bear. "StarClan always has a reason." The words echoed over and over, but were hard to accept.

Leopardstripe walked out of camp he couldn't believe that Duskstar had accepted him for who h was. It hadn't been easy to tell his leader what he had done. He let out a sigh and gazed up at the sky. He wondered if Starclan was mad at him after all he had killed his own brother. He could still remember the day he found out that his brother was responsible for their dads death.
Flashback: Leopardpaw sat next to his sister grieving for his father. He had no idea how his father could be dead just like that. He was snapped out of his thoughts when he saw the deputy approach him a warrior named Talonstep. He dipped his head to the deputy wondered what he wanted,
"I have something to tell you two," he meowed grimly. "When receiving his body and found a piece of Spottedpaws fur in between his claws. I think your brother killed your father," he meowed.
Leopardpaw stared at Talonstep for a minute before leaping to his paws. "I don't believe you," he hissed lashing his tail.
"See for yourself," Talonstep meowed before walking away.
Leopardpaw watched him leave and looked in between his fathers claws to see some of his brothers fur. 'It's true my brother killed our father,' he thought.
Flashback end
Leopardstripe snapped out of his thoughts and shook himself. After he had become a warrior ha had left Duskclan to track his brother down. When he had been 14 moons of age he had finally found his brother. The two then had gotten in a fight and he killed his brother. Before his brother had died Spottedpaw admitted to him that his father had only been stopping him from betraying the clan. He let out another sigh wondering what would have happened if he hadn't killed his brother.
'Maybe he would have given up the idea of trying to take over the clan and would have come back,' she thought. Just as he had the thought he knew if would have never happened. His brother had been really ambitious and in the end had proved that he would do anything to get his way. He still missed his father and wished he was here right now he also missed his mother but barely remembered her since she had died of greencough when he had been a kit. His mothers death had actually been what changed his brother and he wondered if his mother had lived maybe everything would have been different he figured that but there was no way to change the past.
He snapped out of his thoughts when he caught the scent of one of his clan mates. H knew it wasn't Duskstar or his sister because he had memorized their scents. He could smell the scent of herbs mixed in the scent of his clan mate and knew that it had to be Snowpool. Letting out a sigh he walked through some pine trees into view and looked around spotting the medicine cat and walked over to her.
"Smowpool, may I ask what your doing out here?" Leopardstipe asked. Before his brother had killed his father he had been kind of innocent. His brother killing their father had been a wake up call and showed him that you could easily be betrayed and that the forest wasn't safe. He sat down curling his tail over his paws and waited for the medicine cat to answer his question. He hadn't really ever talked to Snowpool before mainly because the medicine den brought back bad memories so he tried to keep out of the medicine den.

The sound of a tom's voice rang in her white fluffy ears. The familiar scent of DuskClan followed soon after. She was upwind, something she knew best to avoid. Her warrior training had taught her that. She opened her eyes and turned her head, seeing the golden tom. Unlike her, his pelt was distinguished. He had both spots and stripes, as if the great Clans LeopardClan and TigerClan had bore a kit. He was also older than her, and had more experience as a Warrior than she ever would.
"Just thinking. What are you doing out here, Leopardstripe? This part of the forest is rather far from camp. I've not scented many cats in this part." She looked back up at the sky. It was unusual for her to have company, not that she ever minded. Sometimes the life of a Medicine Cat was lonely. She could never have kits, she could never have her own little family. Sometimes she wondered why she even thought about walking this path, especially after losing all the family she would ever have.
"Frostfire, don't you ever get lonely? Did you not ever want kits? Your own family?" the bundle of white fur meowed, her question not uncommon t the elder Medicine Cat. "Of course I do, but then I remember that I have a family. I have many kits, and I get to watch them grow like any other Queen. The Clan is my family, the Clan are my kits. You will understand one day, young one. If you truly want to walk the path of a Medicine Cat, you will find that you will love your Clan and protect them like your own kits." She purred, her features soft and warm.

Leopardstripe frowned at her question he was a warrior and didn't like the medicine cat making it seem like he couldn't go where he pleased. "What I can't hunt for my clan," he meowed from anyone else it might have been teasing but he said it grimly he had dealt with a lot of death during his time. Before his fathers death he had been carefree and he had been a fun loving tom. But after his fathers death and after killing his brother he had become a series and rarely allowed himself to have any fun or to relax. He always stayed on guard like he expected to be attacked or something. He was sure if all of his clan mates knew that he had killed his brother that they would think he end up becoming like his brother. He regretted killing his brother but Spotted had started it when he killed their father. His brother had been willing to betray his own clan for his ambition.
He shook himself to clear his thoughts and gazed at her wondering why she had come way out here to think instead of staying in her den. "Why did you come all the way out here to think?" he asked her tilting his head to the side. Usually he wouldn't try to pursue a conversation and would have probably left by now but he was curious about the medicine cat. The only other cat besides his sister that he had talked to a lot had been Rosestar. Like Rosestar the medicine cat made him curious though he wasn't really sure why he wasn't social by anyone's standards. He was use to being alone but he figured that it was time for a little change of pace. He wondered if he would actually have any success hunting it was getting harder and harder to hunt. It was leafbare but it seemed that every new day it just got colder. He figured it would snow soon.
"To bad it isn't newleaf or greenleaf it most be hard to find herbs in the cold I know it's getting harder to find prey," he told her looking it the sky. "I suppose it'll know soon he knew that it had already snowed in the mountains the mountains always got snow and then snow seemed to blow in from the mountains. The young tom had no idea that cats lived up in the mountains of course no one else did either he figured that no cat would want to live in the mountains. "Do you have enough herbs?" he asked her trying to be friendly and start a conversation. It showed that he wasn't really use to talking from how awkward he sounded.

The white she-cat's ears pressed flat against her head, annoyance in her eyes. How dare he challenge her like that! Her tail-tip began to twitch, back and forth, back and forth. She had never really seen the tom talk to anyone, let alone hold a conversation. So why was he so curious about what she was doing, and why?
"It's quieter than the camp. Besides, I'm looking for some catnip, to brace for any sickness." She stated, the annoyance ringing in her voice. "With the coming snow, I want to stock what I can and find a good area it grows in case of an emergency."

"No need to be so snappy, it was only a question," Leopardstripe meowed mildly bitterness suddenly feeling his eyes and he looked away the tip of his tail twitching. "I don't know why I even tried talking to you your clearly like everyone else. Rosestar is the only cat who doesn't treat me like it would be better off if I hadn't returned," he meowed his words coming out with more force then he intended. For some reason her snappiness made him mad. It reminded him of the way most of his clan mates spoke to him like they expected him to betray his clan. Though he had been able to ignore it but the fact that the medicine cat was treating him like everyone else treated him was to much. It was like a wall fell over his eyes he wasn't doing like he had with most of his clan mates. He was withdrawing into himself and pushing everyone away like he had always done. He took a pace away from her suddenly no longer in a good mood his feelings of not belonging threatening to overwhelm him. He faced her stiffly his body tense like he might run off any second.

An annoyed growl erupted from the she-cat's chest. Why is he acting like I've pulled his tail like a kit? He's the one who challenged me first! Her tail began to twitch, her pupils dilating to slits. Leaves began to rustle around the cats, the wind blowing them gently, as they seemed to have a stand-off.
Snowpool looked at the tom for a moment, then closed her eyes, taking a deep breath. Her tail curled around her paws, and her ears became erect. She released the breath, and opened her eyes once again. She didn't understand the tom, he was older than her. She had seen some of the older warriors treat him harshly, however.
"I need catnip." She mewed calmly, soothingly. She was calm now, collected. It was something she had struggled with, especially as a kit and apprentice. Luckily, temper did not keep one from becoming a Medicine Cat.

"I'm just worried I've seen the worst happen to cats and I don't want it to ever happen to anyone again," Leopardstipe meowed tiredly. He hadn't really been getting much sleep lately and this was making feel even more worn out then he was. He hadn't seen anything wrong with what he hadn't seen anything wrong with the question he had asked her before. It would be like him having offense over her asking him what he was doing out here. He hadn't lost his temper over a question like she had but his pain and anger over how everyone treated him had finally come to the surface. Even his sister treated him differently like he was so kind of hero he wasn't sure if her change in attitude was worse of if the way his clan mates treated him was worse. He had never been the one for the center of attention and yet he still didn't feel like being treated like an outcast either. He suddenly wondered if it had been right for him to come back maybe if his brother had wounded him badly and he had died maybe no one would even miss him. They would probably be glad that he would no longer be around. These thoughts mad his mood plummet and now he seemed really sad. It was like he had forgotten she was there and right now his emotions were all out there easy to read which was so unlike him.

The she-cat examined his face. Suddenly he looked so frail, so tired. Like he was losing an inner battle. She knew that all too well, from her own battle, when her family had died. Her features softened more, her eyes warming. She stood, and padded over to him. His scent surrounded her now. She stopped beside him and pressed her head against his shoulder soothingly.
"I've seen that look before. Leopardstripe, I don't know what's going on, but it will be okay. Everything happens for a reason. And if you ever need, I'll always be here to talk." She had repeated the words of her mentor. The words that had calmed her mind.

Leopardstripe was jerked out of his thoughts when Snowpool spook and he was caught of guard by what she said. "I-I don't know it's just everyone treats me like I'm about to betray my clan or something," he meowed this clearly hurt him he was very loyal to his clan or had been since he had returned. He would lay down his life for the clan and that fact that his clan mates didn't trust him hurt him. He wondered if he should tell her about his past but in truth he wasn't very comfortable with her yet and didn't know if he wanted to tell her about his past. He had told Rosestar about his past and in return she had told him his but he still was uncomfortable around most of his clan mates.
"I left but I had a good reason to leave and because of something that happened in the past my clan mates don't seem to trust me," he admitted. He looked away the tip of his tail twitching and he wondered if she shared the views of his clan mates. She didn't seem like she did but he had never been to good at reading others.

"You know you won't. Sometimes, you just have to work harder to prove your worth. For what it's worth, I've never thought once you would betray us. You've always seemed to be a loyal Warrior, though distant. Loyal none the less." She licked his cheek, as if she was trying to wash the pain away. Warmth made her fur stand on end, warming her ears. Her eyes shot open. Snowpool took a quick step away from the tom, shaking her head.
"I-I'm so sorry. That....I shouldn't....I...I need to find Catnip." She took a few more steps back, wanting to hurry before he had realized her ear-tips warming. Why did she suddenly feel so hot? She turned her back to him, tasting the air quickly for the best direction to start her search.

"Yeah I suppose so, I just wish that would stop assuming things about me you and Rosestar are the only ones who don't act like I'm going to betray the clan...well besides from my sister," Leopardstripe meowed with a shake of his head. He tried to think of something else he could say to her to keep their conversation going when she licked his cheek. He started in surprise and without meaning to he stepped back his eyes revealed his shock and he barely heard his words when she said something about him finding catmint. "I should get back to hunting," he muttered turning almost running into a tree but jerked to the right at the last minute just barely keeping himself from running into a tree.

The wind began to pick up strongly, the trees bending and moving by the power. It was strange, for wind to be so strong this time of year. Snowpool watched the tree tops. There were no clouds in the sky now, no indication of a storm. Was it StarClan? Who else could possibly cause such power. The white she-cat closed her eyes, listening cautiously. Despite the roaring of the wind, she heard nothing.
As quickly as the wind had started, it stopped. I don't know what just happened. I hope I can speak to Frostfire tonight... Her mind was still lingering on the wind, the strange feelings she had gotten from licking Leopardstripe's cheek in the far back of her mind now.
